At Sherwood Dental Practice we offer one of the most advanced orthodontic options for straightening teeth, Invisalign aligners. Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually straighten teeth, without the need for metal or wires.
Did you know that the benefits of getting your teeth straightened can be more than just increased self-esteem and confidence? Better brushing, improved gum health, easier eating and clearer speech are some of the other benefits of having your teeth aligned.
Why would I need composite bonding?
What makes composite bonding such a requested treatment for many patients is its effectiveness for resolving a variety of cosmetic dental issues. There are alternatives out there, such as veneers and crowns, but composite bonding can benefit patients because it is a much simpler and much more cost-effective solution to those other treatments.
A patient may want to look more into composite bonding if they are struggling with chipped teeth, fractures, or other cosmetic improvement to the teeth. It is likely, if the damage is minor and easily fixed, that your dentist will recommend this treatment over more expensive treatments.
Composite bonding is the use of composite material that is then bonded to reshape, rebuild, or fill damaged teeth. It is a very simple cosmetic procedure, but it also has a huge amount of potential for different kinds of repairs. What is the treatment process?
The treatment itself is very simple, and it can normally be done in just one simple appointment with your dentist. It requires your dentist to first match the colour of the composite resin with the rest of your teeth. This will ensure that the smile will be consistent and look as natural as possible. The resin will then be placed onto the area required and moulded into the correct shape. The finishing touches will consist of curing the composite resin and refining the tooth further.
If you have chipped, cracked or discoloured teeth, porcelain dental veneers are the perfect way to mask and disguise imperfections. With beautiful, natural results, porcelain veneers can improve the colour, shape and position of your teeth.
Dental veneers are thin shells of porcelain or white filling material (composite) made to fit over the front surface of teeth to correct worn out enamel, uneven alignment of the teeth, chips, discolouration, spacing or cracks and can sometimes provide a more conservative treatment than a crown.
Porcelain veneers function as a normal tooth when you eat. They are strong and durable enough to ensure you can continue to bite, chew and enjoy all your favourite foods without worrying about the consequences.
A dental veneer can be used on one tooth to match the rest of your smile or on your whole smile to transform your appearance.
Teeth Whitening is a quick and effective cosmetic dental treatment that can make a real difference to the colour of your teeth and the appearance of your smile.
At Sherwood Dental Practice we offer many options for whitening your teeth including Enlighten teeth whitening, a high performing teeth whitening system that allows you to whiten your smile in the comfort of your own home. Enlighten Whitening is the only system to guarantee Vita Shade B1.
How does teeth whitening work?
Firstly, book an appointment so that we can check your oral health to ensure everything is looking good enough to go ahead with the treatment. We will also take dental impressions during this same appointment. These are sent to the lab where your very own custom-made whitening trays are created.
About a week later, your whitening trays and gel will be ready to collect. Your dentist will show you exactly how much gel to put in the trays, which you will then wear overnight to whiten your teeth while you sleep!
When will I see results?
The beauty of a teeth whitening treatment is that it starts to take effect very quickly. You should begin to see a whiter, brighter smile within a week, with full results achieved after three weeks.
A dental crown is sometimes known as a ‘cap’ and is an artificial tooth that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it a natural tooth shape. Dental crowns address aesthetic needs, restore tooth function and enhance the overall health of your mouth.
Dental crowns are an ideal restoration for teeth that have been damaged or weakened by decay or a very large filling. They can be made of porcelain or gold or a combination of these materials.
A dental crown could be used for a number of other reasons; you may have discoloured fillings and would like to improve the appearance of the tooth, you may have had a root filling which will need a crown to protect it or a crown may help hold a bridge or denture firmly in place.
